The Java Plug-in, from Sun Microsystems Inc., is software that runs inside your web browser, allowing it to run Java programs, such as NetLabels. The first time you run NetLabels or print NetLabels Color Swatches, you must install the Java Plug-in. The Java plug-in is about 5MB in size - this could take anywhere from 1 - 30 minutes to download, depending on your Internet connection speed.

Sun Microsystems has released many versions of the Java Plug-in. As of August, 2005 we are still recommending Java Plug-in Version 1.3.1_02. However, you can likely use any 1.3.1 version successfully - the current latest version is 1.3.1_16. There is an even newer version, 1.5 - but it contains some bugs that prevent NetLabels from working properly.
