Detailed Printing Steps:
- Go to www.netlabels.com
- Click on the Print Labels button
- If you get a Java Plug-in Security Warning, click on the Grant or Grant Always button to allow the Java Plug-in to start NetLabels
- On the NetLabels Security Logon screen, enter your UserID and password.
If you have not been assigned a NetLabels UserID/password, you can print SAMPLE labels using UserID=guest and Password=guest.
- Click on button 1-Logon or press the Enter key on your keyboard.
- The next screen allows you to Select any available Label Style, as well as a Request Type. Each label design has a unique 4-digit Style Number.
On this screen you can:
- Click on the 10 Label Attribute radio buttons on the left side of the screen to see different aspects of each label design.
- Choose among the available label styles, if there is more than one label style available. The label style tree displays each label style available to your UserID. Double click on any style number to expand all of its attributes.
- As you click on each label style in the tree, NetLabels displays a preview of a single label populated with sample data, in a separate Preview window. In most cases, there is a vertical ruler in the preview window, so you can see the size of the label.
- Click on a Request Type, to specify the source of data for your labels, from the choices on the right side of the screen
- Use the Sort and Filter buttons to search through all available label styles, selecting label designs with particular features. You can sort on any label attribute and apply multiple layers of filters to narrow down the choices displayed.
- Click on 2-Set Up Print Job once you have selected a Style Number and Request Type. This will take you to a data entry screen where you can type in your label data or open a file that contains your label data. All data entry screens display the name of each data field and sample data values that show the exact format required.
The available request types vary by label design - some request types are unavailable for some Style Numbers.
- The Data Columns Request Type screen lets you enter columns of data, like a spreadsheet, using the keyboard and mouse.
- There are simpler input screens, with a single input field per label - click on List - 1 Page.
- For Numeric label designs with starting/ending number ranges, click on Single Numeric Range or Multiple Numeric Ranges and then type in starting/ending data values using the keyboard (unique to NetLabels).
- For creating a single label, select the Single Label Request Type and then type in data values using the keyboard.
- Most label designs can import label data from a database, spreadsheet, or file - select the File Request Type.
- There is no need to tell NetLabels what fields to use, or what delimiters your file uses. Our label design team sets up YOUR label to work with YOUR data file.
- Each label design is customized for a specific input file format.
- The label design process includes creation of an anonymous sample data file that can be used to print a page of sample labels.
- This sample data file will be downloaded automatically and used to create sample labels for you to view and print.Sample data files can be viewed in your web browser using by entering the Style Number in place of the X's below:
- www.netlabels.com/sampledata/StyleXXXX.txt
- If you want to use a data file that you have created, rather than the sample data file, click on Browse Local Files to find and open this data file, then click on 3-Show 1st Page.
- Click on 3-Show 1st Page to see a preview of page(s) of labels containing the data you specified. There is also a zoom feature on the preview that allows you to magnify the labels.
- 4-Page Setup is generally NOT required. NetLabels will automatically set the printer to the proper orientation.
- Click on 5-Print to print
- In the printer dialog, click on Properties to make sure the paper is letter size.
- You can select a specific range of pages to print.
- In general, you should print no more than 100 pages or so per print job, so keep any data files you use relatively small, or split them up.
- Check the color rendering on your printer and forms. You probably want to print in "Normal" or "Graphics" mode, rather than "Draft" mode, so that the printed colors will be deeper. Other printer modes such as "Best" or "Photo" may take much longer to print.
