I just tried to upgrade to the new Java Plug-in to fix the problem described above where my screen is covered by strange white streaks and I can't see NetLabels very well. The installation process "crashed" my browser and the installation failed. What happened?

The Java Plug-in Version 1.30_01 installation program from Sun Microsystems Inc. has a "bug". The "JInstall" program "crashes" near the end of installation, causing your browser to terminate.

This problem APPEARS ONLY TO OCCUR ON MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER WITH WINDOWS 98.

You may be able to work around this problem by downloading and installing the Java Plug-in MANUALLY, rather than using the automatic installation features of Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser.
